My primary area of research is 20th-century American prose fiction and non-fiction. Within this field, my focus has been on the memoirs, novels and short stories coming out of the Vietnam War, democracy and dress in the antebellum U.S., racial representations in Stephen Crane's writing, the Hemingway Hero, and configurations of gender in the works of representative American authors in the twentieth century. Other research interests include women and sexuality in Victorian British literature, contemporary British fiction by female writers, and world literature (especially Latin American and French). |
